On Wednesday, April 6th, 2022, Dr. Mehmet Oz, Cardiac Surgeon, and the Republican Political Candidate, visited Sbarro Health Research Organization (SHRO) at the Temple University, Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. Dr. Antonio Giordano, Founder of the Sbarro Health Research Organization (SHRO), discussed and talked about SHRO's journey, past research and ongoing research activities of the lab and future projects, and, the vision and mission of Sbarro Health Research Organization (SHRO), with Dr. Mehmet Oz during the meeting.
Sbarro Health Research Organization (SHRO) was Founded in 1993 when Professor Antonio Giordano discovered the tumor suppressor gene pRb2. For the past, almost, 30 years SHRO is committed to funding excellence in genetic research to cure and diagnose cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and several other chronic illnesses. SHRO also fosters the training of young doctors in a spirit of professionalism and humanism.
During the visit of Dr. Mehmet Oz, who is also the host of the famous "The Dr. Oz Show", Dr. Antonio Giordano discussed various innovations in Healthcare and medical research that Congress and the Federal Government could prioritize to greatly enhance the health and well being of all Americans. Dr. Giordano also discussed with Dr. Mehmet Oz, the current research activities of Sbarro Health Research Organization in Cancer Genetics. Cancer Genetics plays an important role in cancer research, cancer cure, and cancer prevention. Today health economy in the United States is on the rise which has led to disparities in health outcomes by race and by socioeconomic level. Dr. Antonio Giordano was recently interviewed by NBC10 Philadelphia about Sbarro Health Research Organization's ongoing study on the 'Health Equity Project' that seeks to determine if there is any link between cancer and where a patient lives, with a focus on North Philadelphia and the neighborhoods around Temple University.
The meeting with Dr. Mehmet Oz, Dr. Antonio Giordano, and the team of Sbarro Health Research Organization concluded with a discussion about the healthcare policy framework for the Americans via NIH and other institutions and cancer research.
